Pounding Mill Overlook

An autumn day at Pounding Mill Overlook - elev. 4700' (Milepost 413.0) along the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Asheville, North Carolina.  More than a century ago, mountain people would build a hammer type mill to grind corn. The mills were water powered and built along streams such as Pounding Mill Branch.
